What just happened?
Blank strike — the unit is born without identity: no value, unknown to the system.
Identity engraving — the unit receives a unique cryptographic identity (hash + digital signature). From this moment, no two units are alike.
Certification — an official serial number is issued, the way a central bank certifies a banknote.
Ledger entry — the mint is recorded permanently; only now may the unit circulate.
The counterfeit isn't rejected because it was "caught" — it's rejected because it has no door. The ledger only recognizes units born at the gate. What the ledger doesn't know, nobody can spend.
